Have we become insensitive to terrorism ?

The Samjhauta was blown up. Who are the real terrorists? Those who plant the bomb ? Or, those who instigate them to? Or those who agree to skip security check of luggages for this high priority train, for a petty bribe of Rs 50 ? Is it the laid-back attitude of the Indian governement [Just contrst the "deep condolence" regularly offered by our govt, to the prompt measures taken by the British when the London subway blasts occured] Or we, for whom the blast in a train is just another cover story in the newspaper?

57 innocents died. Will this never stop ? :(

No one has become insensitive to anything. Just that we are taking things as they happen these days. Surely, there is a lot that can be done to prevent all such acts, but you cannot pin point any one section of the crowd and analyse their sensitivity towards this issue. I believe such issues are better left undiscussed till we know what we can actually do to improve things out there.

Well, I guess you are right in a way. How can security be lapse in such "politically sensitive" trains? And given the fact that they have some screening involved for passengers boarding this train! I guess the authorities (security agencies/ govt) are taking things too lightly and as you put it, becoming more and more insensitive.

You really feel that we are doing what all can be done?? when did the mumbai bomb blasts occur and when did the verdict come?? And, tell me frankly, Sid, does the news "Militants kill # people in Kasmir" really affect you anymore??

@ Ram
Exactly my sentiments. Security check is difficult for trains, as compared to flights, agreed. But, considering that this is a prime target for militants, such birbery and lapse of security should have been nipped in the bud. Now, there's no use crying over spilt milk.

I never said we are doing all that can be done; rather I said just the opposite. I feel really hurt to read about so many people dying almost daily, for no fault on their part. But how long do I keep expressing my sympathies for them? Is that all that I can do? Is that all we can do for them? Many have expressed their anger against such activities, but is this going to change things? True, some of us may have become insensitive to some extent; but what I wish is that the others must fight against all this. If we can't do that, there is really no point in cursing ourselves for our weaknesses, as that surely ain't gonna help improve the situation out there. We don't need any more 'junta ki awaz' on this; its time we junta stop making more awaz and actually do something about terrorism on our own, as ultimately, we are the ones who bear the brunt of its cruelty.
